Getting Ready for Summer!

(Yes, i'm lazy and re-using a picture I made a year ago :p)

Summer  is almost here! I AM SO EXCITED! But then again, who wouldn't be? I'm not officially on break yet, I still have to finish Math and History, but I should be done with that soon.

I can't believe it's been over a year since I went to Europe. That was one of the awesome est trips in my life! I was probably in Rome this time last year. Yep,

Oh, so I got my wisdom teeth out... What fun. I've been sitting in bed watching movies since Thursday, and am getting a bit tired of it. Well, I did do sow drawing, oh! So this summer I have a bunch of cosplay related projects coming up. Most importantly AN ENTIRE COSPLAY ROOM!! My parents are awesome and are letting me convert the storage room upstairs into a sewing room!

Ok, what else...well, I don't have a lot planned for this summer, other than going to my second house on the weekends, and a possible technology camp. Hopefully I'll dedaate more time to drawing, and singing, and writing. I may start doing short stories or poems and posting them once a week.

Yep. So I hope everyone has a fantastic summer!
(And I'm almost done with that Host Club review. I'll finish/post it once I'm feeling better and can think straight :p)

May 2013~ My Version of 365

Well, I was going to try and write the "High School Host Club" review before I did this post, but oh well, that didn't happen.

Like last month, I didn't get much time to draw this May, but I had a lot of school, so at least I have a good excuse :p.

Victory
After ending April with Vulnerability, I kicked off May with this continuation picture.
(Total: 1 hour and 45 min.)

So the details on her took the majority of the time, especially shading the vest! I hope it has the metallic shine I was trying to give it, sort of like armor. She's (supposedly) the same girl as the one in Vulnerability.

Lady Luck
Inspired a bit by this song. Yep. This one was lots of fun to do! (Total: 3 hours)
Her top is supposed to be like a dice. Purple, blue and green are the lucky colors for this year. Red and orange are un-lucky.

Un-lucky numbers on the top
Lucky numbers on the bottom
Symbols of luck on either side
Just a close up of her face :)
Untitled 1
Yep, no title. I really have no idea what this is. Just practice for drawing multiple people in one picture.
(Total: 1 hour, 25 minutes)

 Team RocketShipping
Simply because I ship these two dorks :p (Total: 3 hours and 15 minutres)

And then here's the corner of my room where I stash all of my random drawing/painting stuff.

And the other corner

And some older pictures of mine hanging on my wall

Alright, well that's it. Have a nice week everyone! I'll finish up that Host Club review soon and post it.

April 2013 Art~ My Version of 365

I didn't have a lot of time to draw this April, but oh well, that happens. The theme of the month was Fan Art, and I sort of stuck to that.

April Art

"10 and Jade Rachel"
Completed!

"'Fruits Basket' Characters"
So, as you can see from my last post, I love Fruits Basket! Haha, I also managed to get my mom hooked on it, as well. So yeah, I basically drew some of the characters.

Merida 1
I love Merida, she is awesome! Variation style on her green dress.

Human Ahsoka
I'm going to finish this digitally during Summer.

OHHC BroTP
I'm not going to continue this. Yep.

10 and Jade Rachel pt 2

Tree and Boulder
Obviously this isn't finished. I'm also writing a poem to go with it. Or a short story, or something  Grand and Big C (My mom's parents) gave me some really great paints for my birthday, so I was eager to break into those. Zia Linda and Uncle D.L. made me an easel. So yeah, this is what happend.

Vulnerability
April 30 was a pretty crappy day for me. In the end I drew this, which kicks off the theme for the month of May (Words/Feelings/ideas as people). I have no idea why I drew wings on her, probably because a) I haven't done that in a while and b) there was no chance that I would post a pic of a naked chick on my blog, real or not.

Alright, have a great week everyone!

"Fruits Basket" Review

Hi everyone! I have recently finished the animate series "Fruits Basket" and I really enjoyed it! I'm going to do a (mostly) spoiler free review first, but if you have already seen it, feel free to skip down to the not-so-spoiler-free end.

Synopsis (taken from here):
After her mother's death, Tohru Honda finds herself living with the Sohma family consisting of three cousins: Yuki, the 'prince charming' of their high school, Kyo the hot headed, short tempered outcast, and Shigure the mischievous novelist, if not sometimes that of a pervert. Tohru finds out the Sohma family secret that when a member is hugged by the opposite gender or they are tired out, they turn into the 12 animals of the Chinese zodiac. Filled with many lovable character and many plot twists along the way, life at the Sohma house will never be the same again. -Written by Anonymous

Warnings:
There is some minor nudity, when characters change back to their human form, but this is "cleverly censored by little puffs of smoke"(here). There is very little cursing, rarely using anything stronger than "damn" and "bastard". There is little violence, and Arisa is an ex-gang member. There are a few characters that seem homosexual, but in the end it turns out they are not. There are also a few mentions of abuse.

The show is rated PG, and I recommend it to anyone 12+. Younger viewers will have a harder time relating to and understanding the characters and high school setting.

Availability:
All 26 episodes are available through instant-play on Netflix. Multiple box-set editions are available for $20+ on Amazon and Ebay.

Characters:
One thing in particular that I really loved about the series is how well the characters are developed. Main characters are very well rounded, and so are many side characters. There is one character, Ayame, who makes me uncomfortable, but that may just be because he reminds me of someone I had some bad experiences with. So episodes 14 and 20 are difficult for me to watch (but I sufferd through 20 because of my BroTP).

Animation:
Keep in mind that the show was released in 2001, so the animation isn't at the same standard we have now. Aside from that, the animation is very well done.

Fruits Basket was my first Anime, aside from some movies and Pokemon (ATLA isn't technically Anime). If you are considering getting into anime, like fantasy stories and are looking for a new show, Fruits Basket is defiantly a good place to start. (If you don't like the first two episodes, though, don't bother continuing)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(Here is the not-so-spoiler-free end)

I LOVED LOVED LOVED Fruba!

Yuki wins the prize for most adorable animated character ever.

But he can be a nasty little rat ;P

But seriously, the way that he was abused when he was younger is so sad. The fact that so many of the Zodiac members were abused by Akito is so sad and every time they mentioned it I just wanted to hug the character.

My BroTP :)

I think one of my favorite moments in the entire series was when Yuki and Kyo go and get Tohru back from her grandfather. That scene was just so amazing and showed how much they cared about her. Another scene that I loved was when Kyo and Yuki go back to Tohru on New Years eve. It was so sweet!

I love this cosplay!
Arisa is probably my favorite character out of the series, though. We look alike, and both are short tempered and are very loyal to our friends. I think I'll cosplay as her soon! And to add to my list of favorite scenes, Arisa's first introduction when she beats up the Prince Yuki Fan Club is one :).

It's funny, I don't actually ship anybody in the series. I know Kyo and Tohru end up together, and thats great, but I just don't care that much. Well, I guess if I had to ship people I would ship Kyo and Arisa, they might work well together.

I just love some of the quotes from the show, too.

I think this one is so powerful, because it completely relates to insecurity in real life.

Well, I think that's it. Have a nice week!
